[Customer Case] Accelerating Initial Decision-Making for BCP

Realization of 'accurate seismic intensity detection' and rapid initial response through IoT earthquake observation services.

【Overview】 ■Purpose: Accelerating initial response decisions based on "impact on buildings" ■Related Product: IoT Earthquake Observation Service ■Scope of Provision: Complete set of equipment, implementation support, service provision 【Background and Challenges】 NEC Networks & System Integration has been developing a business continuity plan and preparing for earthquake disasters for some time. However, there were challenges in the operational aspects of initial response during actual emergencies. The main issue was that the actual seismic intensity at each company location was not being monitored. Relying solely on news and information from the Meteorological Agency made it difficult to ascertain the level of shaking at company locations, making it challenging to apply BCP decision criteria such as "begin disaster situation confirmation and safety checks at seismic intensity X or higher" in practical operations. Therefore, a system that enables rapid initial decision-making based on accurate seismic intensity information was needed. 【Reason for Selection】 The IoT Earthquake Observation Service allows for real-time monitoring of seismic intensity at individual locations, enabling rapid initial response based on the decision criteria established in the BCP. Additionally, the standard inclusion of notification and cloud management features was a significant advantage, allowing for quick integration into existing BCPs and smooth commencement of operations.
